Friends of Glittering Lights – Las Vegas Motor Speedway needs your help!
Las Vegas Motor Speedway, home to Glittering Lights presented by Goettl Air Conditioning + Plumbing, will host blood drives with The American Red Cross of Nevada on four dates: March 27, April 2, April 7 and April 11. Drives will take place in the Thrive Hive Digital Center in the speedway infield from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification, are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Completion of a RapidPass® online health history questionnaire is encouraged to help speed up the donation process. To get started, follow the instructions at www.RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or use the Blood Donor App.
For more information on how to donate, view Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Red Cross Blood Drive information page.
Why Be a Donor?
The American Red Cross now faces a severe blood shortage due to an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations during this coronavirus outbreak. Healthy individuals are needed to donate now to help patients counting on lifesaving blood. A blood shortage could impact patients who need surgery, victims of car accidents and other emergencies, or patients suffering from cancer. One of the most important things people can do to ensure we don’t have another health care crisis on top of the coronavirus is to give blood.
Donation Safety with The American Red Cross – COVID-19
Donors are urged to postpone their donation for 28 days following travel to China and its special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macau, as well as Iran, Italy and South Korea, or if they’ve been diagnosed with or have had contact with anyone with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19. For more information about donation safety, view the Red Cross’ blood donation page.
