In a heartwarming display of community appreciation, Glittering Lights has already kicked off the season with a record-breaking turnout of military members, veterans, and their families during two special Military Nights—Veterans Night on November 11, and Military Monday on November 18—courtesy of Verizon. These nights, dedicated to honoring our nation’s heroes, offered complimentary admission to military families, creating an unforgettable experience under the twinkling lights.
A Festive Tribute to Military Heroes
Glittering Lights, one of the largest and most beautiful holiday light displays in the region, has always been a beloved tradition for families and visitors. Again this year, the event took on an extra layer of meaning as it opened its gates to military families for a special, free night of festive fun. The outpouring of support was overwhelming, with nearly 7,000 military families and friends turning out to enjoy the evening’s festivities. The community’s appreciation for the sacrifices of military families was evident in the massive turnout, which set a record for the Glittering Lights event on these special nights.
“We are so grateful to our partner Verizon for stepping up to make these two military nights free for our heroes. It’s such a great way for the entire community to say thank you for their service and we are excited that a record number of them came out to enjoy Glittering Lights this season,” said John Bentham, Glittering Lights Event Producer.
A Tradition of Giving Back to Those Who Serve
While the spectacular lights were the star of the evening, the events also underscored the ongoing commitment to honor and support military personnel. Glittering Lights is more than just a holiday spectacle; it is a celebration of community and offers a powerful way to show gratitude to the community with special free nights for those who serve and inspire. From veterans and military personnel to teachers and first responders, these nights offer complimentary admission as a thank-you for their dedication.
Verizon is a proud veteran employer and recently announced a partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project to help veterans transition from military to civilian careers. This training is available through Verizon’s free Skill Forward program where participants can access more than 250 free, credentialed courses in fields like cybersecurity, coding and AI, preparing them for high-demand careers in the digital economy. Verizon is also proud to offer a military discount to all US active duty, retirees, veterans, current or former Guard or reserve, and Gold Star family members.
